Welcome to the Brantford Access to Housing Website. There are different types of housing that you can apply for in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant, and they are explained below.
NOTE: You can apply to any or all of these types of housing at the same time.
Social Housing / Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) Housing
The rent for RGI housing is determined by your household’s income. There are several social housing communities in the City and County. Please note that most communities will have waiting lists. If your household wishes to apply for RGI housing click here.
To check the current status of your existing application for RGI housing click here. For other housing opportunities, be sure to check out the options listed below.
Many of the housing providers that provide Rent-Geared-to-Income housing also rent units at market rates. This means there is no subsidy provided. You can inquire about units and arrange viewing by clicking here.
Affordable Rental Housing
This is rental housing that has been built over the past few years under a new federal-provincial housing program. The rents are restricted to the average rent for this area or less. There are also restrictions on household income that qualifies for this type of housing. You will be required to apply directly to the property manager. To look at these properties, click here.
Market Rent Housing - Private
If you do not qualify for other types of housing or cannot wait for them, you may wish to check out rental units in the private market. Many are listed in local newspapers. Newspapers are available at Public Libraries. Listings can also be viewed online by clicking the Brantford Expositor Listings.
