City of Brantford Housing Department

The Corporation of the City of Brantford - Housing Department was formerly the Brant and Brantford Local Housing Authority operating under Ontario Housing Corporation. On January 1, 2001, under the Social Housing Reform Act, ownership was transferred to the Service Manager, the City of Brantford.

The Director of Housing, Rick Farrell, reports to the General Manager of Public Health, Safety and Social Services, Dan Temprile.

The Housing Department is responsible for administering over 1,900 affordable rental housing units. The City owns and manages approximately 1,122 units and administers an additional 842 units. These housing units are located in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant. The rental units include low and high-rise apartment buildings, townhouses, semi-detached and single family homes, some of which are modified for persons with physical disabilities (accessible). These units vary in size from bachelor apartments to 5 bedroom homes.

To apply for rent-geared-to-income or market rent housing in the City of Brantford or County of Brant, an application for Brant(ford) Access to Housing (BATH) must be completed. Eligibility for rent-geared-to-income housing units follows the guidelines of Service Manager of the City of Brantford and the Social Housing Reform Act of Ontario. Market rent units are governed by the Residential Tenancies Act.
